hello

It’s been a busy start to the summer for us. We’ve travelled the country with a road show, stepped back in time to a 1920s speakeasy and produced a number of videos that you can now view on our shiny, updated website www.asabell.co.uk

Take a few minutes to click through this ‘summer special’ newsletter to find out how we’ve delivered the innovative and creative results you expect from us in our usual cost-effective way.

And if you’d like to talk about how we can help you get the most from your budget just give us a call.

enjoy

The best of summer’s well and truly here and our thoughts are drifting towards holidays. Can you match the best-ever holiday experiences to the right asabell team member? No answers on a postcard please, but we’ve given you the correct matches at the bottom of the page.

  1. Lying face-down on a sun lounger on the edge of the Indian Ocean thinking to myself “I’m really, really thirsty but I’m too hot to move” and then hearing a voice saying “fresh fruit cocktail?”. I opened one eye and saw a waiter from the hotel, dressed in dinner suit and black tie, holding a tray with an enormous glass full of ice and freshly-picked and crushed fruits. Now that’s service!

  2. The holiday began and finished in Tokyo where I met Harajuku girls and saw sumo wrestlers perform. The tour continued into the mountains, with a stop-over in Kyoto and Osaka. The Shinkansen bullet train took me right down to the bottom of the map where I stayed overnight in Nagasaki, Hiroshima (an experience I will never forget) and Nara. But the pinnacle of my trip was a visit to Harmony Land where I met my favourite feline friend ‘Hello Kitty’.

  3. Not a cloud in the sky, but with a soft breeze coming off the sea to stop the temperature just short of sweaty. Lying on the warm stones at Budleigh Salterton in Devon, eyes closed, with the background chatter of children getting on together (for once). Absolute bliss to let my thoughts drift safe in the knowledge that everyone was now too old to wander off and drown!

  4. Five friends, two roof top tents, one battered Land Rover and over 17,000 kilometres of dust and pot holes the size of cows as we crossed five countries in Southern Africa. Not unusual for hyenas, elephants and even the odd lion to wonder into camp – I’ve never climbed up a ladder and into a tent quicker!

  5. Glistening clear blue water, golden sand and a view 800ft over the island of Ayia Napa in Cyprus as I was strapped into a harness attached to a parachute and pulled behind a speeding power boat. It’s a parasailing adventure I will never forget, but what goes up must come down and I plunged into the ocean praying that there were no big fish to greet me.

  6. A night time helicopter ride over Manhattan. It was the first and only time I have been in a helicopter and I wish it had lasted longer. There’s something unreal about it because you’ve seen the landmarks so many times in films - the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge – but it was fantastic. We went before 9/11, so to see the twin towers was something special.

  7. Riding a bicycle along the beach front in Hoi An, Vietnam, to a constant chorus of ‘hello’ as the local children tried out their English on us at the top of their voices. We got a bit lost and had to stop off at a local bar that had chickens wandering around and only served warm bottled water or beer, but the local people were so friendly and smiley and more than happy to let us test out our extremely basic Vietnamese – it was bliss.

  8. Playing volleyball and splashing around in the warm, welcoming Ionic sea on the island of Zakynthos. The nets were placed far enough into the sea to keep us cool, despite the 40 degree heat! Music echoed from the bars on the seafront, reminding us that an ice cold beverage was only seconds away.

other asabell news

Congratulations Hayley
Congratulations to Hayley who has just been promoted to Account Director in recognition of the contribution she’s made to asabell’s continuing success. She’s not going to let the status go to her head though, and will still be the cheery voice at the end of the phone and the Mrs fix-it most of you know.

Welcome Clare and Kayleigh
We’re delighted to welcome two new members to our team. Clare Adams will be finding us lots of lovely new clients. Many organisations seem to be reviewing their agency rosters because of the credit crunch so it’s an ideal opportunity for us to show the rest of the world what we can do. Kayleigh Rees is our new placement student, joining us for the upcoming year. Kayleigh’s enthusiasm and energy put her way ahead of other applicants; in fact she’s so keen to get started she’s already helped us out at a recent series of road show events.

Carbon footprint
Our latest step to reinforce our green credentials and ultimately do our little bit to save the world is to introduce an asabell environmental policy.

At asabell HQ we only print when we need to; and when we need to, we use our new energy-efficient printer. Being able to print more in-house, means that we can reduce our carbon footprint by cutting out the delivery from our printing suppliers. At every available opportunity we suggest environmentally-friendly printing options such as recycled paper to our clients.

Thanks to turning unnecessary lights off and enforcing the shutting down of all computers at the end of the day among other things, we’ve found that within just two weeks our electricity usage has fallen by around ten per cent.

Golf
As we’re located in the Cotswolds – surely the heart of golf club country – we thought it appropriate to sponsor our very own team at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club. We’re pleased to report that they’re doing very well and a win this week will take them up to third place in the league, putting them in the running for a promotion – it must be the snazzy asabell shirts that do it.

Holiday match answers: 1 Darren, 2 Hayley (obviously with the Hello Kitty reference!), 3 Alexa, 4 Louise, 5 Emma, 6 David, 7 Clare and 8 Kayleigh.
